This is an English Reading course for non-native (ESL) students, ideal for lower-secondary (grades 6-9) classrooms. This course is ideal for classrooms where most students have basic familiarity with English (for example they understand basic sentences like "Your teacher is coming late today," but might not know the words like "task", "organize", or "attitude". In terms of the English levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), the target student level for this course is about A2-B2 range.

This curriculum is designed around group reading of a digital copy of the recent internationally acclaimed comic book Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba: Book 1 , where all lessons follow a very similar plan:

• A review of some of the vocabulary words from the previous lesson 
• a vocabulary word classification review, differentiating between nouns, adjectives, and verbs
• Comprehension questions as a recap of the story read last time
• Students taking turns to read out loud the comic book, ideally as shown on the classroom projector 
• While one student is reading to the classroom, others listen and write down vocabulary words they don't know
• Students get a chance to ask the meaning of words they wrote down

Also included in the curriculum are a midterm test and final test, with multiple choice and association questions.
